Job Opportunity: Account Manager – Material Science

Location: BDO Plaza, Paseo de Roxas, Makati City (Head Office)

Work Assignment: Travels within Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao as required

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (mostly field work)

Reports to: Sales Manager – Material Science

Department: Sales – Material Science


Position Summary:

The Account Manager – Material Science is responsible for managing a portfolio of at least 30 customers and/or generating annual sales revenue of USD 1.5M or more, including statistical revenue from indent orders. This role ensures the achievement of the Sales Plan and Targets within the assigned territory and agreed timelines, while building strong customer relationships and executing the company’s sales strategy.


Responsibilities:

Market & Account Development:

  • Execute development programs and sales targets assigned by the Market Manager
  • Develop new customers for existing product lines within the assigned territory
  • Conduct market surveys and gather information on competitor activities, customer outlook, and market trends
  • Communicate insights to relevant Market Manager
  • Implement defined sales strategies


Sales Management:

  • Act as the primary interface with assigned customers
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships aligned with Omya’s corporate values
  • Negotiate sales for assigned OMCI product lines
  • Monitor achievement of sales and development targets; proactively address gaps
  • Identify technical concerns and recommend solutions to supervisor
  • Ensure accurate and timely rolling sales forecasts as part of the S&OP process


Principal Management:

  • Assist in principal-customer calls and plan principal visits, including background research and visit reports
  • Define support needed to generate sales for assigned customers
  • Attend technical training and trade shows as needed


Credit & Customer Management:

  • Recommend credit limits and payment terms after assessing customer financial condition
  • Ensure timely collection of accounts receivable in coordination with Finance and Customer Service
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints in a professional manner, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Coordinate investigation of complaints with Sales, Logistics, Warehouse, and Suppliers


Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare customer visit reports, trip reports, and reports to principals using company CRM tools
  • Submit weekly, monthly, and periodic sales, development, and forecast reports
  • Develop annual Sales Plan for assigned customers and products


Job Requirements

Education:

  • University Degree in Business, Science, or related field


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of sales experience in an industrial B2B environment
  • Preferably with exposure or network in road projects, foundation building, or construction materials


Technical & Job-Specific Skills:

  • Competent in business analysis and market assessment
  • Strong knowledge of industry, market trends, and customer needs
  • Experience with CRM systems, MS Office, Lotus Notes, SAP
  • Driving skills required
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time within the territory and occasionally beyond
